Adelaide legends The Superjesus have revealed they have a new self-titled album on the way, their first in two decades. If that’s not enough to get you up and about, the rock quartet are also embarking on a national tour in support of the record.

Arriving Friday, March 21 (pre-order/pre-save here), The Superjesus contains the previously released singles ‘Money (We’re Only In It For Love)’, ‘Lights Out, We Won’t Let Go Until It’s Over’, ‘Something Good’ and a cover of Generation X’s ‘Dancing With Myself’.

To accompany the album announcement, The Superjesus have shared brand new track, ‘Diamonds’. The tune is a piano ballad highlighting frontwoman Sarah McLeod’s gorgeous vocals.

Speaking on the album, McLeod says, “For us, the magic is in the creation of the music, and as a band, we have found this process very soul-enriching; I truly feel it is our best work yet; I love every song on this record.”

The Album Tour takes in seven dates across June and July, kicking off in Sydney at The Crowbar on Friday, June 6. The South Australian Music Hall of Fame inductees then hit Avalon RSL in Avalon (Saturday, June 7), The Corner Hotel in Melbourne (Friday, June 13), Barwon Heads Hotel in Barwon Heads (Saturday, June 14), The Crowbar in Brisbane (Friday, June 20) and Norton Music Factory on the Sunshine Coast (Saturday, June 21), before closing the tour with a hometown show at The Bridgeway in Adelaide on Saturday, July 5.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now via thesuperjesus.com.

The Superjesus are one of South Australia’s greatest music exports. Rising to fame in the late ‘90s, the band took home two ARIA Awards at the 1997 ceremony for their debut EP, Eight Step Rail.

They followed the EP a year later with their first studio album, Sumo, which peaked at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart and won The Superjesus their third ARIA Award for Best Rock Album.

The band went on to release two more albums, Jet Age (2000) and Rock Music (2003), before calling it quits in 2004. McLeod went on to have a successful solo career before getting the band back together in 2012.

Since then Superjesus have continued to tour frequently and hinted at new music without any concrete dates, but we are now finally getting that much-anticipated fourth studio album from the group.

Catch The Superjesus at The Bridgeway Hotel on Saturday, July 5. Tickers are on sale now via thesuperjesus.com.
