Having kicked off their monster Weekend Warriors Regional Aus Tour in WA over the weekend, DZ Deathrays have marked the occasion with the release of catchy new tune, ‘Like No Other’.

A year in the making, ‘Like No Other’ was written by DZ’s Shane Parsons and songwriter Maurice Santiago, otherwise known as Hearteyes, with Nathan Sheehy producing. It’s a dance-tinged rocker stamped with DZ’s hard rock DNA and follows last year’s boisterous, ‘First Night Fever’.

“‘Like No Other’ is a weird song to me,” reflects Parsons. “Musically it goes all over the place, it’s dancey with a taste of punk and even a slight breakdown in the middle mixed with surf guitar. The lyrics are obscure and I don’t even know what they mean but they sound good so we ran with it! I can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks about this new one from us!”

The lads Weekend Warriors Regional Aus Tour takes in a whopping 24 dates, with DZ Deathrays hitting up venues in towns such as Frankston, Geelong, Manly, Tamworth, Capalaba and Beechworth. The tour also includes a stop in South Australia at Beer & BBQ Fest in Mt. Gambier on Sunday, March 9. This will be DZ’s only SA gig, so fans keen to catch the band are urged to grab a ticket before they sell out.

As part of the monster tour, DZ Deathrays are bringing some of their friends along for the ride, with a host of Australia’s best ratbags playing selected dates on the tour, including Drunk Mums, The Beefs, Semantics, Last Quokka, Mannequin Death Squad, Pretty Uglys, Trim Reaper, Private Wives, Goon Gremlins, Itchy & The Nits, Korderoy and No Longer Kids.

Tickets for all remaining shows are on sale now via DZ Deathrays website.

Beginning their musical journey as founding members of Brisbane’s Velociraptor, Shane Parsons (vocals/guitar) and Simon Ridley (drums) struck out on their own under the name DZ Deathrays in 2008. The duo released two EPs before their debut album, Bloodstreams, marked them as ones to watch.

Eventually recruiting Lachlan Ewbank on lead guitar, the trio have gone on to release six ARIA charting studio albums, with both Bloody Lovely and Positive Rising: Part 2 peaking at #4 on the ARIA Album Charts.

DZ Deathrays’ most recent record, 2023’s R.I.F.F, peaked at #8 on the ARIA Album Chart, making it the band’s third top-ten album.

Anyone who has caught DZ Deathrays live knows how good they are, and with the special guests joining them on the road, the Weekend Warriors Regional Aus Tour is one you don’t want to miss.
