American emo rockers Mayday Parade are commemorating two decades as a band with their upcoming Three Cheers for 20 Years Australian tour.

Fans can expect a career retrospective setlist from the Florida act, with Mayday Parade performing all the hits from their seven studio albums, including ‘Jamie All Over’, ‘Miserable At Best’, ‘Kids in Love’, ‘Stay’ and many more.

“We’re beyond thrilled to return Down Under for a headlining tour in celebration of 20 years as a band and our latest (and upcoming!) releases,” Mayday Parade posted on Instagram. “Some of our most memorable shows have been in Australia, and that’s all because of you - our incredible fans.”

Mayday Parade are bringing along a couple of special guests on tour, with the recently reformed Jack’s Mannequin and alt-indie group The Home Team both coming along for the ride.

The Three Cheers for 20 Years tour begins at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Friday, September 12. The tour then hits Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday, September 13, Brisbane’s The Fortitude Music Hall on Sunday, September 14 and Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Wednesday, September 17, before the final concert at Perth’s Metro City on Friday, September 19.

Bursting onto the scene in 2007 with their debut LP, A Lesson in Romantics, Mayday Parade quickly found themselves the toast of the pop rock/punk world. Six more albums followed along with countless tours across the globe, with Mayday Parade one of the most popular acts to come out of the early ‘00s.

Four years on from their well-received seventh record, What It Means to Fall Apart, Mayday Parade have announced a three-part album project, with the first instalment, Sweet, arriving this April.

Speaking about their longevity, the band said. “I think a large part of why we are all still here is that we have been friends most of our lives, even before the band. This is everyone’s full time job and passion. We all love playing music, so the fire is still alive. We have created something important to us and it’s imperative that we maintain it by giving it the requisite attention.”

Catch Mayday Parade at Hindley Street Music Hall on Wednesday, September 17. For full ticketing information visit the Destroy All Lines website.
