Emerging during the late 00s when indie rock dominated the charts, The Wombats broke through in 2007 with their major label debut, A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation.
The three-piece, consisting of frontman Matthew Murphy, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen and drummer Dan Haggis, have gone on to become one of the biggest acts in the world, embarking on sold-out arena tours across the globe and headlining major European festivals.
The Wombats achieved their first UK Album Chart #1 with 2022’s Fix Yourself, Not the World, an album that also peaked at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart. The record has garnered over 2.5 billion streams and led The Wombats to headline shows at Crystal Palace and London’s The O2.
Expectations are high for the Liverpool band’s sixth album, Oh! The Ocean, with their latest single, ‘Can’t Say No’, another vibrant dose of catchy indie rock with introspective lyrics that suggests their upcoming record will be another chart-topper.
Catch The Wombats at AEC Theatre on Sunday, September 21. For full ticketing information visit secretsounds.com.
