Ahead of their upcoming Booty Block Party tour that kicks off next month, Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based reggae party act Bootleg Rascal have shared their latest single, ‘From the Very Start’.

Produced by Caleb Tasker (Rum Jungle, The Terrys) with mixing and mastering by Ian Pritchett (Angus and Julia Stone, Boo Seeka), ‘From the Very Start’ is a laidback indie meets reggae rocker.

In a statement about the tune, guitarist Jimmy Young says: "As the title and lyrics allude to, this song is all about beginnings - exploring the origins of romantic relationships, musical collaborations, friendships, and careers."

The track follows last year’s, ‘Drip Your Love’, a funky summer jam the lads dropped to coincide with their fast-selling Booty Block Party. The tour takes in nine cities nationwide, including Sydney, which was originally left off the tour schedule due to the cost of living crisis.

At the time of the announcement, Young explained: “We thought we'd go all out and do every capital city but Sydney. We've been out priced of the accommodation for hotels there, so unless someone has a tent we can pitch in their backyard, then it's no Sydney for now.

“If anyone is keen to hook us up though, please shout out; Carlos said he has a lot of experience pitching a tent, so we'll be pretty self-sustainable.”

Bootleg Rascal’s Booty Block Party tour commences at The Espy in Naarm/Melbourne on Sunday, March 9. The tour continues with dates at Crown & Anchor in Tarndanya/Adelaide on Friday, March 14, Darwin Railway Club in Larrakia/Darwin on Saturday, March 22, the Altar in Lutruwita/Hobart on Friday, March 28 and The Brightside in Meanjin/Brisbane on Saturday, March 29.

The tour wraps up with four dates in April, with Bootleg Rascal hitting The Basement in Ngunnawawl/Canberra on Friday, April 4, The Lansdowne in Eora/Sydney on Saturday, April 5, Salty Hops Festival in Yeppoon on Saturday, April 12, and Indian Ocean Hotel in Boorloo,/Perth on Saturday, April 26.

Support on the tour comes from Danté Knows, Dear Sunday, Dizzy Days, and Tasman Keith.
