Khruangbin have been making music for the better part of 15 years, but the wider music community has only recently embraced them, as evidenced by their nomination for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards next month.
The trio of Laura Lee Ochoa (bass guitar and vocals), Mark Speer (guitar and vocals), and DJ Johnson (drums, keyboards, and vocals) craft compelling and intricate compositions inspired by jazz, blues, soul, rock and psychedelia.
Breaking out in 2020 with the release of their collaboration with Leon Bridges, the Texan Sun EP, Khruangbin have continued to go from strength to strength, with last year’s A La Sala, their fourth studio album, arguably their best.
