John Williamson Announces ‘55 Years – My Travellin’ Days Are Done’ Australian Tour
The tour celebrates Williamson’s 55 year career in the music industry.

True blue Aussie John Williamson is celebrating 55 years as a working musician this year with a massive 12-date national tour. Not only is the soon-to-be 80-year-old country singer hitting the road, but he’s also shared new song, ‘If You Wanna Be An Aussie’.
The catchy tune points out all the ways to be a good person, such as treating women with respect, embracing people no matter their sexual preference and looking after nature. All pretty standard stuff really.
“I think we all feel a little worried that we are losing our fair dinkum attitude towards each other here,” Williamson says of the track.
“We are one of the most free nations in the world and very accepting to newcomers. I wake up every day and feel so lucky to be an Aussie. So why not a song to celebrate and dance to that positive approach?”
‘If You Wanna Be An Aussie’ is also the first single from Williamson’s forthcoming 21st album, How Many Days. Arriving April 4, the 12-track record is Williamson’s first since 2018s Butcherbird. You can pre-order/pre-save How Many Days here.
Speaking on the new album and upcoming tour, Williamson says: “It’s hard to believe it’s 55 years since I released Old Man Emu. So, it seems fitting to make a fuss about it after COVID messed up my 50th year celebrations and touring. So, here I go again, one more time around Australia.
“I’m excited to be releasing How Many Songs and a new kids picture book this year. That means I’ll have some new songs to add to the show, plus the old favourites I can’t leave out. It’s hard to stop when I keep people smiling.”

John Williamson’s 55 Years – My Travellin’ Days Are Done Australian tour begins with a performance at the Tamworth Country Music Festival this week on Friday, January 24. Williamson then has shows at QLD Events Centre in Caloundra (Thursday, February 13), QPAC in Brisbane (Friday, February 14), Princess Theatre in Launceston (Thursday, April 10), Wrestpoint Entertainment Centre in Hobart (Friday, April 11) and Her Majesty’s Theatre in Adelaide (Friday, July 25).
Williamson then takes a small break before playing shows at Pilbeam Theatre in Rockhampton (Friday, September 12), Moncrieff Entertainment Centre in Bundaberg (Saturday, September 13), Broiga Theatre in Maryborough (Sunday, September 14), Costa Hall in Geelong (Thursday, October 9) and Frankston Arts Centre (Friday, October 10) before bringing the tour to a close at West Gippsland Arts Centre in Warragul on Saturday, October 11.
