Last year’s countdown received a whopping 2.35 million votes and saw 35 artists make their debut. Doja Cat took out the top spot with her song ‘Paint the Town Red’, making her the first woman of colour and female rapper to win the count.
Other interesting observations from the count include Kylie Minogue returning to the countdown for the first time since 1997, G Flip breaking the record for most entries of all time (seven) and Three Like A Version covers making the list.
Every year triple j teams up with a charity organisation for the countdown, with We Are Mobilise, an organisation that aims to end homelessness, the station’s partner this year.
Together, triple j and We Are Mobilise are doing their bit to get music lover’s help by releasing a special Hottest 100 tee which costs just $45, which is the same amount to cover a night of housing for someone who is living on the streets. Grab your tee here and learn more about the organisation and what it’s about.
