Two decades after it was first released, Wham!’s iconic ‘Last Christmas’ has made history, topping the UK charts for the second consecutive year. It’s the first song to ever claim back-to-back Christmas #1s in the UK.

It’s not just the UK who love Wham!, with ‘Last Christmas’ also taking out the top spot on the charts in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden. It even reached #2 on both the Canadian and US single charts!

First released in December 1984, ‘Last Christmas’ spent five consecutive weeks at #2 on the UK singles chart, kept from the top spot by Band Aid's ‘Do They Know It's Christmas?’.

The song finally made it to the top of the UK singles charts last year, some 39 years after its official release.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the song, a special four-track EP has been released. Available on CD, vinyl and digitally, the EP contains the original track, a Pudding Mix and an instrumental version, along with a previously unreleased live take on the song performed by George Michael at London’s Wembley Arena in 2006.

The EP also coincides with the release of the documentary, Wham!: Last Christmas Unwrapped, which is streaming now on SBS.
