Fundraiser Launched for Former Pendulum Member Ben Verse After Leukaemia Diagnosis
The GoFundMe campaign is attempting to raise funds to go towards Ben Verse’s cancer treatment.
A GoFundMe page has been established to help raise funds for former Pendulum member Ben Verse after he was diagnosed with leukaemia last year.
Verse, real name Benjamin Mount, was diagnosed with acute monoblastic leukaemia just four months ago, with money raised via the fundraising page set to go towards medical bills, nursing care and everyday finances.
On the GoFundMe page, his brother Jeremy details the health issues Ben has endured over the past five months. Ben was admitted to a Spanish hospital in August with what doctors first thought was tuberculosis. It turned out to be pseudomonas aeruginosa – “a rapidly-growing, antibiotic evasive/resistant bacteria forming an abscess in one of his lungs.”
Placed into an induced coma for six weeks, it was touch and go, with Jeremy admitting, “We were told on a couple of occasions that it was doubtful he would survive…each day brought a new calamity/issue: sepsis, bleeding, haematoma, a heart attack, another procedure, another tube…”
Thankfully Ben woke from his coma but was faced with another health challenge when he was found to have acute monoblastic leukemia. Currently undergoing his second round of chemotherapy, Ben is hoping to be out of the hospital in the coming weeks and continue his recovery at home.
"Finally, after over four months in hospital it looks like Ben will soon be able to return home", Jeremy wrote. "The road to rehabilitation will be a long one and Ben will need a lot of care and support to bring him back to the person we all know and love...
“We have set up this fund to help Ben’s family with the costs of a range of everyday and extraordinary financial costs including nursing care, childcare, and mobility solutions. The list goes on and on... Please consider giving what you can."
Aiming to raise £20,000 (roughly $40,000), the fundraiser has already eclipsed this amount and currently sits at £59,000 ($117,000).
