In disappointing news for fans of The Primitives, the UK act have cancelled their upcoming Australian tour.

Breaking the news on social media, the band released this statement: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Primitives are regrettably forced to cancel their highly anticipated Australian tour in February 2025. The band and promoters apologise for any inconvenience caused and will provide further updates regarding ticket refunds as soon as possible.”

This is the second time The Primitives have cancelled an Australian tour. The trio behind smash hit ‘Crash’ was originally meant to perform three dates earlier this year, playing their 1988 album Lovely in its entirety.

Promote Troubadour Presents was forced to cancel that tour due to “circumstances beyond our control,” with new dates announced for February 2025.

Along with releasing the above statement, The Primitives added, “We’re very sorry to have to announce that we will not be coming to Australia in Feb. This tour is not going to be rescheduled. Tickets will be refunded asap. Apologies to anyone that was looking forward to seeing us.”

They followed up in the comments section with another statement declaring the cancellation was the promoter’s decision and not theirs: “It was the promoter's decision to cancel the tour not ours. We very much wanted to play these shows. Bottom line is though that it looks like we just don’t have a big enough following in Australia to warrant a tour there, or get anywhere near covering costs. Sorry again for the disappointment - we’re pissed off too.”
