Low Stakes Presents The Genevieves, Destinezia & The Organics

The gig is part of Northern Sound System’s Low Stakes program aimed at helping young music lovers learn how to put on a live event.

Adelaide favourites The Genevieves are headlining a gig at Northern Sound System (NSS) next month as part of the youth-focused facility’s Low Stakes program.

Low Stakes is a training program for those aged 16-21 who want to learn about what goes into planning and putting on a live music event. Small groups of participants are involved in a five-week program centering on event management, marketing, or technical production.

Those who pick event management will have the chance to learn about artist and venue bookings and liaising, ticketing, worksheets and venue setup.

The marketing course addresses social media, creating assets, promotion, design, photography and videography.

Last but not least is the technical production program where participants dive deep into sound and lighting, including understanding audio and lighting systems, stage setups, soundchecks and audio and lighting operation.

During the five weeks, participants learn the necessary skills relating to their chosen field and have the chance to put them into practice when the group comes together to plan and deliver an all-ages live music event at NSS.

The first of two Low Stakes gigs takes place on Friday, April 11 and is headlined by indie noisemakers The Genevieves, who recently released their debut EP, Dog Dreams. Also on the bill are indie pop quartet Destinezia and emerging act The Organics.

The second concert is scheduled for Friday, June 6, with the lineup to be unveiled in the coming months.

Tickets for the first show are on sale now via Moshtix, with pre-sale tickets going for just $5. Those under 12 can attend for free, while tickets on the night will be $10 at the door.
