Death metal titans Left To Die are touring Australia for the very first time in March. A reborn tribute to ‘80s death metal act Death, Left To Die comprises former Death alumni Terry Butler (bass) and Rick Rozz (guitar) alongside Gruesome members Matt Harvey (guitar/vocals) and Gus Rios (drums).

Taking to Instagram to announce the tour, the band posted: “AUSTRALIA!!!! Are you ready for the ultimate Florida DEATH Metal experience???? We can’t wait to give you a severe case of LEPROSY that’ll leave you Screaming for Bloody More! See you in March.”

The quartet will perform tracks from Death’s seminal albums Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy across seven dates in March.

Left To Die’s inaugural Aussie tour begins in Hobart at Altar on Sunday, March 3 and continues with dates at Perth’s Rosemount Hotel on Tuesday, March 4, Adelaide’s Jive on Wednesday, March 5 and Brisbane’s Soapbox on Thursday, March 6.

Then it’s off to Canberra for a gig at The Baso on Friday, March 7 followed by Sydney’s The Underground on Saturday, March 8, before Left To Die wraps up their tour with a headline performance at Melbourne Dethfest 2025 at the Corner Hotel on Sunday, March 9.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now via Your Mate Bookings.

Before Left To Die there was Death – one of the most influential death metal bands ever. The Florida trio formed in 1983 and comprised Chuck Schuldiner (guitar), Rick Rozz (guitar) and Kam Lee (drummer/vocalist). The band’s debut album, Scream Bloody Gore, is considered one of the first heavy metal records ever released and a genre classic.

Throughout Death’s history, the band had a revolving lineup of performers, with Schuldiner the sole remaining member across the years. His tragic passing in 2001 signalled the end to Death until former members got together in 2021 to play several shows to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Schuldiner’s passing.

This led to the formation of Left To Die, somewhat of a tribute act performing Death’s greatest works, giving old and new fans a chance to hear songs such as ‘Voice of the Soul’, ‘Symbolic’ and ‘Crystal Mountain’ live again.

Catch Left To Die at Jive on Wednesday, March 5. Tickets on sale now via Moshtix.
