The track is taken from Angus Stone’s upcoming fifth DOPE LEMON album.
DOPE LEMON continues to produce the goods on a consistent basis as showcased by his latest single, ‘Golden Wolf’. The new tune from Angus Stone’s alter ego is a foot-tapping indie wonder with psych-pop elements.
‘Golden Wolf’ finds Stone meditating on life after death, with the singer-songwriter having this to say about the tune, “This song was written about and inspired by the next life. What we’ll take with us, and what and who will lead us there? Perhaps, in this case – the golden wolf.”
The track also hints at a more indie-rock direction for DOPE LEMON’s upcoming fifth album, with Stone diverting from his usual indie-folk arrangements to a more guitar-heavy sound as demonstrated on ‘Golden Wolf’.

‘Golden Wolf’ is the first DOPE LEMON release since his 2023 album, Kimosabè. Stone’s sixth album and fourth under the DOPE LEMON moniker, Kimosabé was nominated for Best Blues and Roots Album at the ARIA Awards and holds a special place in Stone’s heart.
“This record is everything that’s me,” he told Rolling Stone in an interview last year. “In the past, the artwork has been anonymous in a way because I was trying to explore these styles, and having this shield in front of me was beautiful – I could sort of slink around in the shadows and wouldn’t have the public make judgement on the person behind it.
He added, “This record, I had moments of clarity reflecting on my childhood, and I was able to see where I want to be in the future. So putting myself on the cover just felt right.”
DOPE LEMON’s much anticipated fifth long player is set for release later this year.
