Nominations Are Now Open for the 2025 Air Awards
This year’s ceremony includes the addition of a new award – Independent Mix, Studio or Mastering Engineer of the Year.

Nominations for the 2025 AIR Awards are now open. The annual awards night celebrates Australia’s independent music sector, with this year’s event held at a new venue – Adelaide Town Hall on Thursday, July 31.
This year also sees the addition of a new award for Independent Mix, Studio or Mastering Engineer of the Year. The award has been introduced to acknowledge the achievements of an Australian-based mix, studio or mastering engineer who worked on a single, EP or album released between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024. The announcement of the new gong follows the introduction of the Independent Music Video of the Year and the Independent Producer of the Year awards that debuted at last year’s event.
Nominations for all categories in the 2025 AIR Awards, including the coveted Independent Album of the Year and Independent Single of the Year awards, are open now to all members, who have until midnight on Monday, March 10 to cast their votes.

Along with the nominations for the 2025 AIR Awards opening, the date for this year’s Indie-Con Australia Conference has been announced, with the event taking place at the Mercury Cinema from July 30 to August 1, 2025. This year’s conference will also host A2IM’s Indie Week Australian Edition, the first time that A2IM has been held outside of the States. 2025 also marks the 20th anniversary of A2IM.
The 2024 AIR Awards were a tremendous success, with long-time AIR Awards master of ceremonies Dyaln Lewis joined by Jessica Braithwaite on hosting duties. The evening featured performances from nominees Maple Glider, Jack River, Bumpy, Slava Grigoryan and RVG. Highlights included Genesis Owusu taking out Best Independent Hip Hop Album or EP for STRUGGLER, Cub Sport winning Best Independent Dance/Electronica Album or EP for Jesus At The Gay Bar and Royel Otis being announced as Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
The 2025 AIR Awards will be held at Adelaide Town Hall on Thursday, July 31. Nominations are open from now until midnight on Monday, March 10.
