The Cat Empire Share New Single ‘Doing Fine’
The track is taken from the musical collective’s upcoming tenth album, Bird In Paradise.

Having just completed a hugely successful tour of Australia, The Cat Power have gone into album mode, sharing the new single ‘Doing Fine’ from their upcoming tenth record, Bird In Paradise.
An upbeat Latin-inspired number, ‘Doing Fine’ is exactly what you want from The Cat Empire. Speaking on the tune, vocalist Felix Riebl said: “‘Doing Fine’ is one of the edgiest and most dynamic tracks on the Bird In Paradise album. Lyrically it’s raw – grief, rage, reckless joy – brought together in the furnace of The Cat Empire’s very live performance.”
The track is accompanied by a music video intercut with footage of Felix flamenco dancing and boxing in a warehouse. “The boxing/flamenco dance collision brought to life in the video clip seem to provide the right intent. It hits hard and it calls for something beautiful in the chaos,” Felix added.

‘Doing Fine’ follows the previously released singles ‘La Gracia’ and ‘Blood on the Stage’, both of which landed at #1 on the AMRAP Metro Charts, and are taken from the new album Bird In Paradise.
Discussing the new album, Felix Riebl commented: “Musically speaking, Bird In Paradise is an Australian-Flamenco, Afro-Cuban project. We’ve drawn from the themes of contemporary flamenco and Cuban music, and combined it with the grit, and toughness of Aussie rock history. Add Ollie’s Jazz influence and you have a sound only The Cat Empire can create. These influences are shaped by undercurrents of urban and outback Australia, adding an undeniably Aussie edge to international sounds.”
