Pete Murray is back with the charming new single, ‘I Am Fire’. Following on from last year’s ‘Wouldn’t It Be Good’, Murray’s latest tune is the second taste of the singer-songwriter’s upcoming new body of work.

The emotive track is inspired by everyday heroes and was produced by Murray with help from Luke Palmer (Boo Seeka, Dead Letter Circus, Jacob Lee) on the Gold Coast. Murray recruited local musicians Ian Peres on bass and keys, Sarah James on backing vocals and Kate Derepas on cello, while also tapping his long-time guitarist Brett Wood on electric guitar, with drums recorded via Nashville courtesy of drummer and producer Aaron Sterling (John Mayer, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Lana Del Rey).

Discussing the themes running through the track, Murray says, “The song is inspired by normal people who stand up against regimes and who stand up for humanity and risk their own lives to save others. They are the real heroes of the world. I have used elements, emotions and feeling to describe these people. The courage they have is enormous and the love they give is forever. This song is also about normal heroes like mums and Dads who are always there for their kids.”

Along with the release of ‘I Am Fire’, Murray has announced a massive 55-date solo acoustic tour with support from Rachael Fahim and Brett Wood. Murray will perform in towns he’s never played in before along with major cities, including three South Australia dates scheduled for Thursday, August 14 at Port Lincoln’s Beer Garden Brewing, Friday, August 15 at Adelaide’s Norwood Concert Hall and Saturday, August 16 at Mt Gambier’s Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre.

The tour kicks off on Friday, May 9 in Darwin, with Murray performing shows in the Northern Territory, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT and Western Australia before concluding the massive run of shows on Sunday, September 7 in the Blue Mountains.

Pre-sale begins on Tuesday, March 18 at 9:30am local time, with general on-sale kicking off on Friday, March 21 at 9:30am local time. For full ticking information visit petemurray.com.

One of the country’s most accomplished singer-songwriters, Murray’s upcoming tour arrives over two decades since he released his 2021 debut album, The Game. He followed this with 2003’s Feeler, an album that turned Murray into a superstar and spawned the mega-hit, ‘So Beautiful’.

Since then Murray’s sold over 1.2 million albums, garnered hundreds of millions of streams and dropped three ARIA chart-topping albums. Splitting his time between the studio and his family, Murray is excited to embark on his first-ever acoustic solo tour on home soil.

“I’ve never done a solo tour in this country before, so it’s been on the cards for a while,” shares Pete. “I’ve done it overseas and people love it - so it’s about time I did it in my own country. There will be some story telling of my songs, my life and career. The shows will be very intimate.”

Catch Pete Murray at Port Lincoln’s Beer Garden Brewing on Thursday, August 14, Adelaide’s Norwood Concert Hall on Friday, August 15 and Mt Gambier’s Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre on Saturday, August 16. For full ticking information visit petemurray.com.
