UK indie stalwarts Bloc Party are celebrating 20 years as a band with a special Australian tour this August. Presented by Destroy All Lines and Double J, the quartet’s trip Down Under also coincides with the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Silent Alarm.

The Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack-led quartet have locked in five shows across the nation, performing their classic album Silent Alarm in its entirety along with a selection of greatest hits handpicked from their stacked discography, including ‘Banquet’, ‘Helicopter’, ‘Two More Years’, ‘This Modern Love’, ‘I Still Remember’, ‘Flux’ and more.

Bloc Party are bringing along special guests Young The Giant as support, with the American indie act performing at all five shows.

The tour commences in Sydney at Hordern Pavilion on Friday, August 1 and continues with dates at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on Sunday, August 3, Adelaide’s AEC Theatre on Monday, August 4, Perth’s HPC on Wednesday, August 6 and Brisbane’s Riverstage on Friday, August 8.

Pre-sale kicks off Wednesday, March 19 at 8:30am local time. Sign up for access here. General on-sale begins Friday, March 21 at 8:30am local time via Destroy All Lines

Bloc Party got their chance when Kele Okereke handed a copy of the band’s single, ‘She’s Hearing Voices’, to Franz Ferdinand lead singer Alex Kapranos and BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq in 2003. Liking what he heard, Lamacq played the tune on his radio show, calling it “genius”, and Bloc Party’s stock skyrocketed.

Over the past two decades, Bloc Party have released six studio albums – including their highest charting record, A Weekend in the City, which peaked at #2 on both the UK Album Chart and ARIA Album Chart in 2007 – and performed to sold-out crowds worldwide.

A festival favourite, the band have regularly been part of the bill for UK festivals including Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, along with major festivals across the globe.

Last in Australia in 2023 on a co-headline tour with New York indie vets Interpol, Bloc Party are ready to electrify Aussie audiences this August.

Catch Bloc Party at AEC Theatre on Monday, August 4. For ticketing information visit the Destroy All Lines website.
