Having just been announced as part of next year’s awesome Laneway Festival lineup, singer-songwriter Clairo has shared a dynamic cover of Margo Guryan’s ‘Love Songs’.
The track is taken from a forthcoming tribute album to Guryan commemorating the third anniversary of her passing in 2021. Like Someone I Know: A Celebration of Margo Guryan arrives November 8 via Sub Pop (pre-order/pre-save a copy here) and contains 12 renditions of Guryan songs taken from her 1968 album, Take a Picture.
Along with Clairo’s spacey interpretation of ‘Love Songs’, the album contains covers from Empress Of, Frankie Cosmos & Good Morning, TOPS, June McDoom, Kate Bollinger, Margo Price, Pearl & The Oysters, Rahill, MUNYA & Kainalu, Bedouine & Sylvie and Barrie.
Some of the proceeds made from the sale of the album will be donated to providing and advocating for affordable reproductive health services.

Margo Guryan rose to prominence in the 60’s, culminating in the release of her only album, 1968’s Take a Picture. A critical success, Guryan’s refusal to tour the album saw her label cease promotion of the record, leading to the American stepping away from making music.
Guryarn’s music experienced a resurgence in the 90’s, resulting in the ‘Sunday Morning’ creator releasing several singles and compilation albums before her death at age 84 in 2021.
