‘Don’t Happy, Be Worry’ is the latest single from Australian hip hop legends Hilltop Hoods.
The upbeat track, which references Elon Musk, the New World Order, Willy Wonka and even The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, is three funky minutes featuring classic Hoods wordplay that’s part of the Hoods new initiative, Hilltop Industries, which aims to make some positive changes in today’s current work climate.
The SA trio have even set up a satirical website that features their mission statement and a link to the Hoods’ Employee Starter Kit, which comes with a mug, stress ball, sticker, badge and desk calendar in a branded company lunchbox.
“As workers become more at ease, more content, productivity falls, the bottom line suffers. That’s where we come in. Here at Hilltop Industries, we specialize in crushing the spirit, demoralizing the staff,” the website reads.
“Our elite team are well trained and always at the ready to remind your staff about the fragility of their vocation, hell, the fragility of life. Our slogan? ‘Don’t happy, be worry’.”
Some of the non-negotiables of Hilltop Industries include no more long lunches, reverting to a five-day workweek, and no more working from home.
‘Don’t Happy, Be Worry’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Roman Anastasios and Jordan Blanch of OUTRO that features the Hoods channelling their inner Men In Black and putting happy office workers in their place.

‘Don’t Happy, Be Worry’ follows on from ‘The Gift’, a track featuring Larrakia/Darwin-born artist Marlon. Both songs are taken from the Hoods’ upcoming ninth studio album, their first since 2019’s The Expanse.
“We’ve had a long time to work on the record and expand on ideas,” Pressure says of the record. “It’ll be six years since The Great Expanse when this comes out, but it will be a stronger record because of the time taken.”
Not only are the trio dropping a new album, but the Hoods are performing at Byron Bay Bluesfest before embarking on a European tour that includes both festival gigs and headline shows.
