PASH – LAND OF THE SUN (SINGLE)

Drawing inspiration from reggae, indie surf and electro-pop, newcomers Pash have been steadily making waves in the Adelaide music scene over the past six months. ‘Land of the Sun’ is the quartet’s latest tune and it’s quite the departure from the group’s previous indie-centric singles. This is four and a half minutes of blissful organic house music, conjuring images of tropical beaches and thirst-quenching margaritas. It’s reminiscent of PANU’s 2021 remix of Elton John’s ‘Cold Heart’ (minus the Dua Lipa cameo), illustrating how impressive these lads are. Stream ‘Land of the Sun’ here.

JESSICA LUXX – ALONE (SINGLE)

We’re big fans of regional singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jessica Luxx here at The Note. Having already talked up her breakthrough single ‘The Temple’, we’re super excited to share her follow-up song. Co-produced by Ryan Martin John, ‘Alone’ is a soulful, country-tinged gospel tune highlighting Luxx’s cathartic yet powerful vocals. There’s a bit of Angel Olsen to Luxx, with a little Sharon Van Etten thrown in for good measure. Not only can she sing and play multiple instruments, but Luxx pens engaging lyrics, with ‘Alone’ an emotional ballad about knowing when it’s time to let go and move on in life. Check out ‘Alone’ here.

WEDDING MOTEL – COUNTRY CLUB (EP)

Is there anything Bad//Dreems’ Ben Marwe can’t do? Not only is he the frontman for one of South Australia’s greatest music exports since the heady days of the ’90s alternate scene (when Adelaide bands were all the rage), but also the man behind Wedding Motel, your new favourite act. Originating as a creative outlet for Marwe during lockdown, Wedding Motel is now a serious music project as demonstrated by sophomore EP Country Club. The four-track release finds Marwe shifting through lo-fi indie on ‘Motel Xmas’, dabbling with electronic drums on the title track and offering classic pub rock on opener ‘The’. A must listen. Give the EP a play here.

LA LANI – SUNSET AT SULUBAN (SINGLE)

Even if you only have a passing interest in the local dance scene, you’ve probably encountered rising star La Lani at some point. The past few years have seen the Adelaide-based DJ and producer spin the decks at the best venues and biggest festivals the state has to offer. Having wowed crowds with her mixes, La Lani is now releasing her own music. ‘Sunset At Suluban’ marks her debut single -- an upbeat techno house rainbow ready-made for the dance floor. It’s hard not to move when this song is blaring out your speakers, with the feel-good vibe of ‘Sunset At Suluban’ the perfect soundtrack for your Saturday night. Stream ‘Sunset At Suluban’ here.

OUTBACK CADILLAC – SUNDAY BEST

Sometimes you hear music that sounds quintessentially Australian. It’s hard to identify exactly why, but it just feels very Aussie. That’s what you get listening to Outback Cadillac. Formed by Chris Anthony (STORK) and Ethan Macauley (The Juicy Tides), the duo’s Thursday jam sessions evolved into a fully-fledged project, resulting in the album Table Rock P.N. One of our favourite tracks from the release is opening salvo ‘Sunday Best’. A guitar lead foot tapper with a cheeky harmonica solo and melodic riffs, it’s both familiar and fresh at the same time. Put simply, this is great South Aussie music. Get around it. Grab a digital copy of the album here.
