SUNSICK DAISY - BREATHE IN… BREATHE OUT (EP)

We’ve been eagerly waiting for new music from dream-pop four-piece Sunsick Daisy ever since they dropped their “song of the summer” ‘Underwater’ in early October. And, luckily, the wait is finally over with the outfit’s debut EP Breathe In…Breathe Out dropping on November 24. This five-track record is a slow burn, opening with the wistful and atmospheric ‘Faith’ before closing out the 16-minute-and-41-second treat with our favourite song from the EP, ‘I’m Fine’. Opening with a frenzied noise rock sound, the track has you immediately hooked from the get-go. But it’s Sunsick Daisy’s signature shoegaze and stirring lyrics that make you stay. A cracking conclusion and debut record! Listen to it in full here.

BABY MO - SLOWLY BURNING (SINGLE)

The second single released by Adelaide singer-songwriter Baby Mo, ‘Slowly Burning’ is a song for those quiet nights when you want to curl up under the covers and be left alone with your thoughts. Slow and soul-stirring, the track, which clocks in just under five minutes, builds in pace and passion until it reaches its bone-achingly beautiful conclusion. Baby Mo credits Lana Del Ray and Fleetwood Mac as two of her inspirations and it’s clear to see why on ‘Slowly Burning’. Wrap up your weekend by listening to this song and her other two newly-released tracks here.

BABY CANDY - CANDY SUCKER (EP)

We waited two long years for Baby Candy to release new music and now, it’s like Christmas has come early with two releases from the fuzzy four-piece in the span of a month. Following their lead single ‘What’s Worse’, the local outfit released their sophomore EP, Candy Sucker, via PAK Records on December 8. The whole record is a tight four-track listen that flexes the band’s ability to blend genres into a punchy noise that sounds fresh yet familiar all at once. If we had to point you in the direction of just one track, however, we’d suggest ‘Big Boi’ – partially for the name, but the fast three-minute tune is a fuzzy anthem made for thrashing about to. And this is exactly what you can do at their EP launch this Saturday at the Grace Emily. Grab your tickets here.

SINES - SINES (ALBUM)

Arriving in Adelaide’s earholes today, Sines' self-titled debut album is finally here for listeners to enjoy in full. The alt-rock outfit has been teasing us with the small snippets of this record since ‘Release’ dropped in early March 2022, with June’s ‘Better Left Behind’ and July’s ‘Hold On’ fan-favourites in The Note office. But this morning’s drop revealed the five-piece had a few more sweet songs up their sleeve, in particular its final track, ‘In The End’. The moody masterpiece is a soulful, sombre conclusion to the eight-track, accompanied by an even more pensive and moving music video. Check that out below! Or stream the full album here. Sines play a free gig at the Crown and Anchor this December 28.

THE MONDAYS - LIVE LIKE THIS (EP)

Adelaide three-piece The Mondays bring such an exciting and eclectic sound to the state’s music scene. Don’t believe us? Give their debut EP, Live Like This, a whirl and listen for yourself. The record mixes several fan-favourite tracks released over the last couple of years (think ‘No Sugar Sprite’ and ‘Lose It Like This’), plus some sweet new songs for us to savour over the summer. ‘Tell You Anyway (You & Me)’ is a standout from the eight-track record, a tune that unlocks flittering memories of forgotten summers through its distorted lyrics and electronic pop beats. We’re keen to see if this energy-infused keeps on this untouched and genre-less path. We think it suits them real well. Stream The Mondays Live Like This here.
