Adam Kay Brings His Hit Show ‘This is Going to Hurt’ To Australian Shores in 2025
The doctor-turned-comedian returns to Australia after a sold-out 2024 tour.

Doctor turned BAFTA-winning comedian Adam Kay returns to Australia in 2025 with his new show, This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor.
After selling out venues across the country in 2024, Kay is excited to share more comical stories from his time as a doctor in the UK. Based on his multi-million-selling book of diaries about his experiences on the ward, Kay’s show has been seen by over 300,000 people, including 50 sell-out nights in London’s West End.
Kay’s This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor tour kicks off at Geelong’s The Story House on Saturday, April 12. It’s then off to Melbourne for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival at Arts Centre Melbourne, Playhouse, from Tuesday, April 15 to Sunday, April 20. The tour continues with dates at Hobart’s Odeon Theatre on Tuesday, April 22, Adelaide’s Norwood Concert Hall on Wednesday, April 23, Canberra Theatre on Friday, April 25, Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul on Saturday, April 26 and Newcastle’s City Hall on Monday, April 28. The final three shows take place at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Tuesday, April 29, Perth’s Regal Theatre on Saturday, May 3 and at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Wednesday, May 7.

Adam Kay’s This Is Going To Hurt has been translated into 37 languages and sold over 3 million copies worldwide. The winner of countless awards, the book was turned into a 2022 hit television show starring Ben Whishaw.
Since the book’s release in 2017, Kay has written a further nine books and toured the globe as a stand-up. He was the best-selling act at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe and is excited to once again be performing for Australian crowds, releasing this statement via Instagram, “Hi Australia and New Zealand!
